Dear Speed Enthusiasts,
The Screen to Speed Holidays Invitational powered by iRacing has left us breathless, delivering heart-stopping moments, and unexpected twists, and showcasing the immense talent of women drivers and sim racers on the virtual tracks of iRacing. The competition unfolded at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, featuring high-performance GT3 cars and a lineup of fierce contenders.
Qualifying Drama:
In a nail-biting 4-lap qualifying session, Lyubov Ozeretskovskaya from Kazakhstan claimed pole position, narrowly edging out Screen to Speed Vegas finalist Emily Howe by a mere two-tenths of a second. The grid was set, setting the stage for a showdown of epic proportions in race 1.
Race 1: Eau Rouge Drama Unleashed!
As the pack descended upon the infamous Eau Rouge for the first time, Emily Howe seized the lead from Lyubov. However, the treacherous corner claimed its victims, sending five drivers facing the wrong direction. Meanwhile, SabrƩ Cook, starting from a poor qualifying position, launched an impressive climb through the ranks, leaving us on the edge of our seats wondering how far she could progress.
The mid-race battle for the last podium position intensified, with P3-P7 separated by a razor-thin margin. Traffic management became crucial in the quest for third place. Meanwhile, at the front, Lyubov executed a daring move around the outside of Emily at Les Combes, setting the stage for an intense battle for the win.
As the race unfolded, a backmarker incident almost ended Emily Howe's chances, losing her front bumper. In a thrilling last-lap attempt, Emily tried to reclaim the lead, but Lyubov defended fiercely, securing her victory. Kristina Ryan held off Yvonne Houffelaar for 3rd place, with Bal Wells rounding out the top 5.
Race 2: Unpredictable Twists and Turns!
Race 2 started with Lyubov determined to maintain her lead, taking charge before the first corner, closely pursued by Emily. The pack behind them followed in single file, with Kristina leading the charge.
As the race settled into a rhythm, the battle for 10th heated up, resulting in a collision between Eliza Seville and Cleo Woods. However, both drivers emerged unscathed, adding another layer of drama to the competition.
In an unexpected turn of events, Lyubov spun the car at No Name, temporarily dropping to seventh. Undeterred, she fought her way back until an unfortunate incident with a backmarker ended her race. The fight for the Second continued between Kristina and Sara, with Sara ultimately emerging victorious, securing P2. Kristina finished P3 just ahead of the impressive Lilac Zier.
