Round 1 Recap - 2025 TEAM USA Talent Scout Event - Sebring 90

The first 2025 Team USA Talent Scout event kicked off at Sebring International Raceway, setting the stage for an electrifying year in sim racing! This inaugural event brought together a diverse group of racers, all vying for the opportunity to represent Team USA in upcoming competitions.

A Showcase of Emerging Talent

Competitors from across the nation converged at the Sebring iRacing event promoted by Init Esports to demonstrate their skills in the GT3 class. The event featured two categories: an all-athletes division and a women-only division, emphasizing Init Esports' commitment to inclusivity in the sim racing community.

Intense Competition on a Legendary Track

Jordan Johnson wasted no time asserting dominance, launching from the green flag into the lead. Behind him, the mid-pack got tangled up in minor skirmishes, but everyone kept it clean. Russell Sato, however, was not content to let Johnson run away with it. He stuck with the leader for the first half of the race, applying relentless pressure. Further back, big movers like Sabré Cook showed impressive pace, slicing through the field into the top 10. While Johnson and Sato controlled the front, the real action unfolded in the midfield. Battles for 3rd and 6th place were fought fiercely, with drivers trading positions and looking for any edge. As the race entered its final third, pit stops began shaking up the order. Some drivers gambled with short-fueling, while others opted for fresh rubber, setting the stage for a tense finish.

Just as Jordan Johnson seemed to find another gear, setting his fastest laps, disaster struck—a disconnect robbed him of victory! With the dominant leader out, Sato inherited P1, but his job was far from over. With 15 minutes to go, the battle was on: Could Sato hold off Wright for the win?

As the chequered flag fell, Russell Sato clinched victory, expertly managing his lead to the finish. Behind him, Wright held off a late charge from Roberts to secure second place. Further back, in the battle of the Porsches, Dick made a crucial late pass on Sabré Cook to snatch 6th place. Cook, however, still had reason to celebrate—she finished as the highest-placed female driver, winning the Women’s Category.
